how did you decide to become a chinese medicine practitioner?

My journey to becoming a Chinese medicine practitioner began during my time in Western medical school. I faced significant challenges with maintaining my weight due to elevated cortisol levels, which left me feeling frustrated and unwell. During this period, I had the opportunity to meet an acupuncturist who offered a different approach to health. After just three months of treatment, I experienced a remarkable transformation—gaining 17 pounds and seeing significant improvements in my overall well-being. This experience was a profound “aha” moment for me.

I realized that effective self-care and optimal health are essential not only for my own well-being but also for my ability to care for others. This revelation led me to explore Eastern medicine more deeply, ultimately guiding me to enroll in Chinese medicine school. Since then, I have found immense fulfillment and purpose in integrating the principles of Chinese medicine into my practice, helping others achieve balance and health in ways that resonate with my own transformative experience.

What is something that you love to help your patients with?

One of my greatest passions as a practitioner is helping my patients understand the profound impact of lifestyle on their overall health. I firmly believe that small, intentional habits can transform one's quality of life. By guiding patients to make mindful choices regarding their lifestyle and diet, I empower them to address and often resolve many of their health issues.

I love working with patients to develop personalized strategies that incorporate practical changes and healthy habits into their daily routines. It’s incredibly rewarding to see them gain insight into how their lifestyle choices affect their well-being and to support them in taking charge of their health. My goal is to educate and inspire patients, helping them to not only manage their current conditions but also to build a foundation for long-term health and vitality. Through this approach, we foster a deeper connection to self-care and wellness.

what inspires your work?

My work as a practitioner is deeply inspired by the transformative power of holistic health and the profound impact it can have on individuals' lives. Witnessing first-hand how integrating Eastern medicine principles can bring about meaningful change motivates me every day.

I am inspired by the stories of patients who experience remarkable improvements in their well-being through small, sustainable lifestyle changes and personalized care. Seeing someone regain their vitality, overcome chronic issues, or find relief from longstanding health challenges reaffirms my belief in the effectiveness of a holistic approach to health.

what is your self-care ritual?

My self-care rituals are integral to maintaining my own well-being and ensuring that I can offer the best care to my patients. I prioritize practices that nourish both my mind and body:

  1. Journaling: I find that journaling is a powerful tool for self-reflection and emotional clarity. Taking time each day to write helps me process my thoughts, set intentions, and maintain a sense of perspective.

  2. Meditation: Meditation is central to my self-care routine. It allows me to center myself, manage stress, and cultivate a deeper sense of inner peace. Regular meditation practices help me stay grounded and focused, both personally and professionally.

  3. Acupuncture: As an advocate for holistic health, I also practice what I preach by receiving acupuncture treatments. This helps me maintain balance, manage stress, and address any physical or emotional imbalances.

These rituals are essential to my overall health and well-being, and they support my ability to approach each day with a clear mind and a positive outlook. They also remind me of the importance of self-care in achieving and maintaining optimal health
